BASECAMP SKI CLUB
Year round skiing and endurance sports training through focused and fun group workouts.
Our mission is to build the local ski community and help local skiers and endurance athletes reach their full potential. Our summer ski training program is specifically designed for athletes ages 8-18, but our coaches are happy to put together a personalized training program for any athlete upon request.
Practice sessions will be held outdoors or at Basecamp's second location (coming spring 2021). We’ll follow a training program designed for junior endurance athletes and cross-country skiers. Practices will include everything from ski specific strength to balance and coordination drills with fun activities like trail running, stand up paddle boarding and kayaking thrown in every once in a while in every once in a while.
Practice times will be 10-11:15 am Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays starting on June 7th and ending on August 27th. Athletes will be encouraged to work out on their own, or as a team (without coaching) 3 times per week in addition to team workouts.
We will also have a special monthly session where athletes will explore things like mental toughness, mind/body connection and new sports. Here are our tentative monthly special sessions for the summer.

We know endurance training isn't a once-size-fits all for each young athlete. While one athlete might have the goal to earn a podium at Junior Nationals, another may simply be looking to improve a specific ski technique. We're excited to be able to offer additional coaching to those athletes who want a little more than we can provide during our workouts.

Strength & Conditioning Coach
Sam is a certified personal trainer and the founder of Find a Step Training (FAST). After losing both of his parents to cancer the connection between physical well-being and quality of life became very real to him. This prompted Sam to leave his profession as an educator and help others accomplish their fitness goals. Sam believes that once fitness becomes a habit it becomes a way of life. Sam will be leading Basecamp Ski Club. He has put together a training program for young endurance athletes based on the concepts of lifelong fitness, goal-setting, ski-specific strength and cardio endurance w/ tempo type build-ups in a fun group setting.
Technique & Ski Specific Training Coach
Rebecca Walsh is a former elite cross country skier and biathlete and the owner of Laramie's Basecamp. She went from losing races to winning races once she realized the importance of year-round training, following a training plan and keeping a meticulous training log. Her true passion is helping children and adults of all ages have positive experiences in the outdoors, especially on skis. Rebecca is a certified Wilderness First Responder and Professional Ski Instructor of America (level 1). Her goal with Basecamp Ski Club is to build the local ski community and support young skiers as they reach their full potential and set big goals for themselves.
