The best way to learn how to stand up paddleboard is through a lesson.
Each of our two-hour paddling sessions will cover basic skills such as site orientation, equipment orientation, safety, proper paddling, launching, knee paddling, stand up paddling and maneuvering a SUP throughout the water.
After that, we'll turn you loose to paddle on your own or enjoy a guided paddle with us for the rest of the evening.
Here's how it'll work.
Click the green "add to cart" button or swing by Basecamp to reserve your spot in a lesson.
Finally, meet us at North Causeway (follow the Basecamp signs) at Curt Gowdy State Park at 5:30 pm for your lesson. For paddleboarding, we recommend wearing layers made from quick-drying fabrics and sturdy water shoes like Chacos or Tevas.
Each session is $25.00. This includes all the gear, instruction, and fun you can handle. We'll offer a full refund if we have to cancel a lesson due to inclement weather.
Our goal is to make this easy and fun, so leave all the hard work to us, Basecamp staff will transport our boards to Curt Gowdy State Park prior to each lesson and provide the boards, paddles, and PFDs for you to use. We do require that you use a PFD or a SUP leash when you paddle with us.
*Note: There is a $6.00/day use fee to park at the North Causeway, we recommend carpooling with a friend or purchasing an annual Wyoming State Parks pass for $40 to offset this fee. Because we'll need to leave Basecamp early to get our paddleboards ready we're unable to offer transportation *
